If you are an avid hiker or if you like to go camping, you should never leave home without a sports GPS system. You can get around without a handheld GPS system, but why would you want to? The right GPS system will let you know where you are at all times, it will let you know how to get home, and it will even let you know how far and long you’ve walked since you left your parked car. Take a look at the Garmin Oregon 450 Handheld GPS Navigator to get an idea.
The following are a few of the features that you will find when you are dealing with a sports GPS system, and you will certainly want to purchase one next time you plan to enter the outdoors!
Having a Look Around
Let’s say you are about to go hiking with your new Garmin Oregon 450 Handheld GPS Navigator. You use the touch screen display to plug in your current coordinates and you put it in your pocket as you go exploring. If you were to go exploring in unfamiliar territory without the GPS system, you could easily get lost. Without familiar markers to guide you back to your car, you could be trapped in dense wilderness for a long time. If you have your trusty Garmin Oregon 450 Handheld GPS Navigator, however, you will be able to see exactly which path you’ve come since you left your original spot and you’ll be able to backtrack your steps with ease.
Know Where You Are
Let’s say you’re in the woods camping and you want to remember that spot for a future trip. All you have to do is turn on your Garmin Oregon 450 Handheld GPS Navigator, if we use the above example, and it will give you your exact coordinates. You can program that into the device and then you can find the exact spot the next time you’re able to camp. Never again do you have to remember trees that may not last until the next year, or other landmarks that can be very fickle in the woods. With a GPS system, you can find out where you’re at no matter how dense the forest may be.
Going Home
Once the sun goes down you probably want to stop hiking, and your GPS will be able to track just how long you’ve been out, and how long it will take you to travel to a given location. An alarm will sound when you need to return to the car which completely removes the risk factor.
It doesn’t matter what you’re doing. Hiking, camping, or even biking in the city, knowing where you are at all times will certainly come in handy. Keep your GPS with you, and you’ll be ready for any adventure in the great outdoors.

One of the greatest experiences for family bonding is a camping trip. By leaving all the electronics at home for a few days, you and your family are forced to spend time getting to know one another once again.
Camping can be a lot of work, but is also a lot of fun. Cooking over a campfire or even with a camp stove is quite different than using the microwave at home. Perhaps you will discover the great taste of real food cooked over a real fire once again. When you finish, you will be reminded that there is no dishwasher at your campsite, so you will have to wash all dishes that are not disposable by hand.
Take time to enjoy all the nature walks and talks by the ranger. Look for wildlife that strolls through your campsite. Stop and smell the wild flowers along the way. Make the most of the time that you have together as a family.
After the dishes have been put away, you can enjoy a family game night with s’mores for a late night treat.
That sounds like such fun, perhaps you should stop reading right now and get online to make your reservation right now. Stop reading and go on. Get ‘er done.
Now that we have cleared out that crowd, here is some more information for the rest of us. If that trip sounds exactly why you have quit camping, listen to this. Many campgrounds have electrical hookups. You will find plenty of power to keep all your favorite electronics charged and to keep the kids happy. If you do not want to cook, you can Mickey D’ a few blocks down the road so that you do not have to worry about paper plates, forks or clean up.
We do have one request. Do not let your neighbors in the campground know that you brought all the conveniences. They think you are roughing it just like they are.
